Lost Childhood thing

<— sketch

The lost childhood object I was described to remake was a turtle stuffed animal that Erika had gotten and lost all within the same trip to Hawaii. This turtle was very loved despite the short time she had with it before being lost. It was described as all yellow except the shell with large glitter eyes. I chose to use my crochet ability and fluffy yarn to recreate the turtle since she said it was ‘Ty’ brand and I am familiar with the texture of the stuffed animal made by them. I did not in fact have the closest shades of yarn to as it was described but the body and shell are the same colors to what the original would have had. It was pleasant hearing about a beloved thing that you get from a significant trip or event that you will always remember when you see that thing.

Recieving my lost childhood object made me reminded of the circumstances of getting the original. I commend Erika for hand sewing the entire cat with little time. The cardboard box that the cat came in instantly brought me back to that time with essentially the shape alone. My lost cat was a pivotal part of my stuffed animal collection as a child, and the first experience at build-a-bear which set off a lifetime obsession.
